What Are The Different Types Of Endoscope

Olympus Endoscope is named because of the lens used in it. Generally speaking, endoscopes are named for the body parts they examine.

• Encephaloscope – used for examining cavities in the brain
• Laryngoscope – used to examine the larynx, the multi-functional organ in the neck containing the vocal cords
• Esophagoscope – used to examine the inside of the esophagus
• Thoracoscope – used for examining the pleural cavity through an intercostal space
• Angioscope – used to observe blood vessels
• Nephroscope – used in the examination of the kidneys
• Colonoscope – used to examine the lower part of the bowel
• Proctoscope – used for inspecting the rectum
• Arthroscope – used for examining the interior of a joint
• Rhinoscope – used in nasal examinations
• Bronchoscope – used for examining the interior of the bronchi
