How To Properly Clean Your Pentax Endoscope
Pentax Endoscope requires cleaning and reprocessing after each use. Cleaning this medical instrument is not as simple as washing them with water. They require aggressive cleaning and disinfecting agents. Here is a look at how to clean endoscopes:
- Sink basins used for cleaning should be large enough to allow loose coiling of the insertion tube. Small sink basins will buckle the flexible tubes.
- Sink drain areas should be free from burrs or sharp edges. Cover the drain area with soft material if necessary.
- Clean and reprocess all accessories separate from scopes. Spray nozzles, forceps, etc have sharp edges that may harm the soft areas of the scopes.
- Use only cleaning brushes that are the appropriate size for the channels and in good condition. Old and worn or kinked cleaning brushes can cut the internal surfaces of the biopsy and suction channels.
