Usual Problems with Endoscopes
Just like any other medical equipment, the endoscope will have some problems in the long run. With this, it is always best to have background knowledge of the most common problems that hospitals would usually encounter with endoscopes. Here are three of the usual endoscope problems encountered:
- Broken angulation wires: This would usually occur if the bending part of the scope is overly rotated, or forced angulation is applied.
- Entry of fluids to the dry parts of the endoscope: This usually happens when endoscopes are improperly cleaned consistently. The water or any form of liquids may get through the tears or holes.
- Nozzle and valve damages: This problem can be prevented if the endoscopes will be cleaned using the manufacturer-prescribed cleaning material and process.
